Diego Suarez

Diego Suarez began piano studies at the University of Costa Rica’s School of Musical Arts. Since his early years of studies, he performed in countries like Italy, Spain, Chile and Mexico, invited by organizations such as ISME (International Society for Music Education) and FLADEM (Latin-American Forum for Musical Education). More recently, he has also participated in festivals such as the Beethoven Bootcamp in Ireland, Art of the Piano in Cincinnati, the International Keyboard Institute and Festival in New York, the Honeywell Arts Academy in Indiana, the Charleston International Music School, the Charleston Chamber Music Institute, and the Piccolo Spoleto Festival in Charleston, South Carolina. During his studies in the United States, he has won many awards, including the 2013 Edwin Davis Peacock Award for Excellence in Piano and the 2014 Sue Simons Wallace Award for Excellence in Music at the College of Charleston. He won First Prize in the Graduate Category of the 2022 Atlanta Music Club Competition. He released his first CD of Liszt’s 12 Transcendental Etudes in 2012. He was also featured in the program “My Life in Music” of The Classical Station WCPE in North Carolina in 2018. Diego holds a Bachelor’s Degree from the College of Charleston in South Carolina, and a Master’s Degree from the Shenandoah Conservatory in Winchester, Virginia. He is currently pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts Degree from the University of Georgia.
