Sung Hun Kim

Dr. Kim is a distinguished soloist, collaborator, and pedagogue recognized for his practical methods and teaching approaches in the best practices through “Lecture Recitals,” “Research Project Awards,” “Excellent Performance Grants,” and “Graduate School Music Talent Scholarships.” Have given numerous concerts and recitals with various vocal and instrumental soloists, as well as chamber ensembles throughout the States, including performing at Baylor University, Faulkner University, Oklahoma State University, Samford University, and the University of South Carolina. He has been an adjudicator for piano competitions and festivals. Moreover, he dedicated himself to piano performance and piano pedagogy with a variety of applications and insight gained through his wide range of performance and teaching experience.

 

Especially, working as a researcher and presenter in the field of piano pedagogy, Dr. Kim also specializes in teaching piano students with autism that aims at creating valuable and devoted opportunities to communicate with them in student-centered education. He published an article, “Sensory-Friendly Recitals for Music Students with Autism” in American Music Teacher (June/July 2021) and attended the 2022 MTNA Virtual Conference as a session presenter. His research in piano pedagogy has been featured at MTNA national conferences, Piano Pedagogy Symposium, TMTA, and SCMTA state conferences since 2014.

 

Dr. Kim is a highly motivated professional with 15+ years of experience to teach the piano to all age groups and at all skill levels. Additionally, his recent solo and ensemble performances are spotlighted in the African- American Montgomery Music Society. Dr. Kim’s students won winners at the state piano competitions. As adjunct piano faculty, he taught piano pedagogy classes for undergraduate and graduate students at Samford University.

 

Dr. Kim received a Doctor of Musical Arts in piano pedagogy at the University of South Carolina and a Master’s degree in piano performance and pedagogy from Baylor University and Oklahoma State University with a bachelor’s degree in Music of Arts.
